A gaming ladder is an ongoing competition where the objective is to obtain and hold the highest rank.
When you or your team join a GLeagues ladder you receive a base value of points that differs from ladder to ladder. You then challenge other competitors that are ranked higher on the ladder than you, or be challenged by competitors ranked lower than you.
Each competitor is ranked by the total number of points they have earned while defending their position and attempting to climb the ladder. The amount of points you win or lose from completing and reporting each match is determined by the number of points your opponent has. When your opponent has more points than you, the award for winning will be greater than if your opponent has fewer points than you. The same can be said for the amount of points you risk losing if your opponent defeats you in your match.
You cannot challenge a competitor with fewer points than you. If you decline a challenge you will lose the same amount of points had you accepted the challenge and lost. Some ladders may allow challenges to be revoked if they are not accepted. There are several ways a challenge may be forfeited and they may vary from ladder to ladder.
